Life is all about love.. Love and life, if not bounded, becomes burdensome and very mechanical.. However in the recent days, we see love is conditional in most of the cases. With the growth of orphanages, old aged homes, it is very transparent that Love has become conditional. Can conditional love be called LOVE?? This question arises often in my mind.
Love is not all about a man holding his lady nor is it about the lady singing a melancholy with the missing thoughts of her man. It is beyond that. It is nothing different that I’m going to describe love about.. Parents’ love on kids, Siblings love on each other, man’s love for his lady, kid’s love on parents, love between friends and many other examples could be cited. But at some circumstances, we have seen this love turning CONDITIONAL.
Beyond all this, is the unconditional love which exists in this world. The unconditional love between a pet and his/her master. It may seem ridiculous for some of the audience here. However this is the truth. I remember my dad telling me stories of their Cows understanding words and nodding heads happily upon seeing him whenever he comes from his college. I also hear from my brother, about his lovely fishes running towards him whenever they see him. To many, this may seem as “merely running towards food”. But this is not the truth behind that.
My Zooie.. She remains a mom when she sheds tears whenever I cry. She remains my dad when she becomes restless seeing me down. She remains my sibling when she naughtily plays with me. She remains my love when she jumps on me when I come back from office or outings. She remains a best friend of mine by showing extreme love on me. She remains my first daughter forever.
When Harshu was brought up by my mom when she was only a year old, I was criticized by people saying, “Subha could grow up a dog but not her daughter”. Of course it had hurt me a lot. First because, Zooie was only considered a dog. Secondly because they did not understand that it really needs a lot of time to grow up a kid than Zooie. Zooie was in fact taking care of me and was not expecting me to take care of her.
My sister who is usually scared of dogs once remarked, “What do we do for them? All that we do is provide a shelter and food. But in turn they show extreme love on us”. Thats unconditional love. My husband once shared this on FB: “Lock your dog in a room and wife in another room. Open both the rooms. See who comes running to you with love and who bites you”. This is indeed very true. Zooie pounces on us with love even if we had locked her the whole day in the house and gone for an outing. Not that I’d bite if locked in a room. This applies if a husband is locked in a room too 😉
She is very intelligent. She roams around with Harshu just like a sibling. They play together, fight for toys and sleep together. We enjoy seeing their love on each other. I’m really glad that my husband, my daughter and I are dog lovers. We understand she is still a little kid and give her all the love. She inturn makes our life colorful. We don’t tie her nor do we isolate her. She is one amongst us. We experience the unconditional love from her.
If someone doesn’t like dogs, or in fact other pets, please do not criticize the pet owners. They mean a lot to them. In fact in most cases, they are treated as family members. Would anyone like their family member to be degraded? Of course, not! We live in our little happy world. Our world becomes happier because of these pets unconditional love on us. She brings wonders to our little world and mean a lot to us. I still remember the day when my little Judo expired when he was only few months old. The pain that is caused by the separation of a dear pet remains a scar in our hearts. Its painful to even think about such a situation.
They remain with us for a few years only. Please do treat them with care. Do not get a pet unless you are confident that you can take care of them well. Its as same as planning for a kid. Above all, do not leave them in the mid of their wonderful days with you. They too do have emotions. A dog is Man’s most faithful companion. We may not be able to be equally faithful to them but atleast let us try to be as faithful as we could to them. Unless we’re sure on that lets not bring home a pet.
Our Zooie adds joy to our little world. Please do not criticize her or any other pet in this world. This is my humble request!
Dedicated to my little Judo who still lives in our hearts, to my lovely darling Zooie and all lovely pets who adds colors to each of our lives. To understand this unconditional love, one has to experience it!!!!!
