“Amma, need to be at school by 7 for the field trip tomorrow. We need to go by ourselves” said she. “I’ll keep my uniform and shoes ready now itself. Wake me up early. Don’t forget” this was almost the tenth time she told me before we slept.
Setting my alarm for 5:30, I went to bed at 11pm. Woke up to see it was just 2:30; woke up to see it was 3:30 and then 4 and 4:30. “She’d be disappointed if I sleep unknowingly” my voice inside made me wake up now and then and finally I got up from bed at 5. Prepared dosa and coffee and made some rice.
“Harshu quick. It’s 6. Get ready” I touched her. She rushed and prepared herself. Having breakfast, I was looking for an ola and none accepted. “Amma, your laptop charger” she reminded. “Amma, your purse” she alarmed. It’s fifteen to 7; let’s rush to the main road for an auto.
“Amma, how will you go to office” she was worried. “I’ll see to that later; first let’s see if we get an auto”. “Guna, the bottle is on the shelf; please feed him if he wakes up; Take care until Anitha arrives. Call me when you go to office” I waved bye.

Foggy outside and Harshu’s questions kept me lively. “Auto ride is awesome in the morning” she smiled. “Would you drop me to Whitefield after dropping her to school?” I asked the auto driver and “sure” he said. “Amma, thank god; you don’t have to change. You’d reach office quickly. But still maybe one hour for you to reach”
I folded my hands in cold and “amma, where is your jacket?” she looked terrified. “I left it in office by mistake” I smiled. “I’m ok as I have a sweater. It must be cold for you. Take your jacket from office today. I’m afraid if it’s lost but somehow you should get it. From tomorrow add it in your schedule. Don’t forget” she went on until her school arrived.
Dropping her at school, pondering her lovely words I wonder “who is the mom here!” With tears on my eyes, I was moved that I didn’t realise the cold nor that I reached my destination!
